What can this wool wadding be used for?

220GSM - Light and Airy

At 15mm thick, this is perfect for those in-between seasons or when you want a bit more insulation without the bulk. Great for breathable quilts, lightweight jackets, and layering projects that keep you snug but not stifled.

400GSM - Thick and Toasty

This one is for the chilly nights! A chunkier wadding at 22mm thick, delivering serious warmth and comfort. Ideal for those winter duvets, heavier quilts, padded jackets, or maybe a luxurious throw for curling up with.

Why choose our Alpaca/PLA Wadding?

Our wadding offers a unique blend that supports eco-friendly initiatives while providing exceptional comfort. The PLA gives the wadding a structure and helps it not to flatten out, bouncing back. It's so soft and warm!

What is PLA?

PLA stands for polylactic acid, which is a bioplastic lofting agent made from corn starch or sugar cane. PLA is an eco-friendly and effective alternative to polyester fibres. Combining a proportion of PLA with the wool makes a more light and lofty material. The added loftiness provides extra insulating properties without adding weight.

Can I wash this product?

Alpaca wool needs to be handwashed in cool water using a mild non-biological detergent.

Alpaca fibres are delicate and can mat or felt together when exposed to agitation or heat. This can make the quilt lumpy and less insulating.

  • Strands of red, purple and turquoise recycled cotton thread being processed

    Eco-Friendly Yarn

Our yarns are made from left-over textiles, sourced from mills and factories. Saved from landfill, the cotton is spun into our macrame cords, or cut into strips for t-shirt yarn.

    We sell UK wool

We buy A LOT of Herdwick wool from local farmers, around 30 tons a year. Our other wool products are made in the UK using UK wool.
