What is t-shirt yarn?
T-Shirt yarn is a wonderful chunky yarn made literally from off-cuts from T-shirt manufacturing. These are cut into thin strips and spun into yarn. We’ve worked hard to find suppliers that can deliver consistent good quality. The thing is with things like T-shirt yarn is that colours can vary from one batch to another. So we are careful to ensure that the colours are consistent.
T-Shirt yarn is a great beginner’s yarn, mainly because of its thickness, so you can watch your project grow a lot faster! This also means that t-shirt yarn can be quite strong, and so will your project. Another great charm is how stretchy or elastic a bobbin can be, sometimes they can have a lot of stretch, great for hair bands, necklaces or socks. But other times, bobbins may have no stretch at all, so it all adds to the interest of the project you undertake with the material.
T-Shirt yarn is sustainable because it creates a new product out of waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill or incineration.
